Jane Zheng

Jane Zheng worked in radio and television as a presenter and producer for many years before studying her MA in TV Journalism at Goldsmiths College, University of London. During her study she worked for the BBC and produced and directed her own documentary about lesbianism in China.

After graduating, Jane worked as a producer and executive producer on numerous films in China. She was Associate Producer on the 2009 feature film Gasp, directed by Zheng Zhong, starring Ge You, Lin Xilei and Zhang Bolin, a movie that caused wide discussion and heated debate among general viewers and film professionals alike. She also worked as executive producer for Red Light Revolution and produced King of Peking (directed by Sam Voutas), both of which screened at several major international film festivals. She followed these up with Dead Pigs, directed by Cathy Yan, which won the 'Special Jury Price' at Sundance. In 2019, Jane produced The Farewell, which was nominated for ‘Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language’ at the 2019 Golden Globes and won a multitude of other major awards, including 'Best Actress' at the 2019 Golden Globes and 'Best Picture' at the Indie Spirit Awards. The film became a huge commercial success worldwide. 

Jane is founder and owner of Seesaw Productions, a Beijing-based production house that has pioneered a cross-cultural, creative production hub of filmmakers for the global indie film market. Through collaboration with innovative and dynamic talents, Jane Zheng and her team continue to produce stories that go beyond borders.
